Good escort safety comes down to a handful of habits kept on every booking: screen the client, tell someone you trust where you are and when you will finish, take payment at the start, keep your drinking light, trust your instincts and leave whenever something feels wrong. None of them guarantees safety, but together they remove most of the avoidable risk.
These safety tips for escorts apply to independent and agency escorts alike. If you are new to the work, read them alongside our guide on how to become an escort.
Escort safety at a glance
- Screen every booking before you agree to it.
- Tell a trusted person, or your agency, where you are going.
- Take payment at the start of the booking.
- Keep alcohol light and never leave a drink unattended.
- Notice the layout of any place you visit.
- Trust your instincts and leave if anything feels wrong.
- Keep your personal life separate from your work.
- Report dangerous clients to National Ugly Mugs.
How to screen a booking
Screening starts before you say yes. Note the number the client is calling from, and be cautious of anyone who hides it. Ask for the basics: his first name, the address or hotel, the time and the length of the booking. Someone who is vague about where he is, keeps changing details, pushes for things you have said you do not offer or haggles hard over your rate is telling you something. You can decline without explanation.
For outcalls, a hotel is usually more reassuring than a private address, because there are staff and other guests around. If it is a private address, check that it exists and makes sense before you travel. Take extra care with a request for a very long first booking from a stranger, or with anyone who hints that other people might be present.
At an agency, the concierge has this first conversation for you. With Indian Angels, clients tell us the escort, the area or hotel, the time and how long, and for hotels the room number is confirmed before you set off. We also keep the number the client contacted us from.
Tell someone where you are
Before every booking, someone you trust should know the address, the time you are due to arrive and the time you expect to finish. Agree a simple check-in: a message when you arrive and another when you leave. Decide in advance what they will do if they hear nothing, for example call you, and then call 999 if they still cannot reach you.
Agency escorts can lean on the concierge here. Our team answers calls and WhatsApp 24/7, so there is always someone awake to hear that you have arrived, that you are done, or that something is not right.
Why you should take payment first
Agree your rate before the booking and collect it at the start, before anything else. That is standard practice: at Indian Angels, clients pay the escort at the start of the booking, usually in cash, and our escort etiquette guide tells clients exactly that. Count it discreetly and put it somewhere secure, ideally in a bag you keep close. A client who argues about money at the door is a client to leave. You are paid for your time and escortship, and nothing else is owed.
Alcohol, drugs and staying in control
A glass of wine over dinner is one thing. Drinking heavily with a stranger is another. Keep alcohol light, pour your own drinks where you can, and never go back to a glass you have left unattended. If you suspect a drink has been tampered with, or you suddenly feel far more affected than you should, leave and get help. Turn down drugs, and leave if a client becomes intoxicated or unpredictable.
Trust your instincts
If something feels off, it usually is. That might be a voice on the phone that makes you uneasy, a room that looks wrong, a second person nobody mentioned, or a client whose mood suddenly changes. You do not need proof, and you do not need to stay polite for long. Your safety outweighs any fee.
How do you end a booking safely?
You can end a booking at any time, for any reason, and you can decline any activity. Rehearse a calm exit line in advance, something short such as “I’m not comfortable, so I’m going to leave now.” Keep your bag, phone and shoes together and near the door so you can go quickly. If you feel unsafe, do not stay to argue about money; leave first and sort it out later. Once you are out, tell your check-in contact or the concierge, and call 999 if you are in danger.
Hotel safety for outcalls
Hotel visits are the most common outcall booking in London and generally feel safer than private addresses. A few habits help:
- Confirm the hotel name and room number before you set off, and share both with your check-in contact.
- Walk in calmly and go straight to the room. Most central London hotels are relaxed about guests.
- Notice where the lifts and stairs are on your way up.
- Check how the door opens from the inside before you settle.
- If the person at the door is not who you expected, or there are others in the room, do not go in.
Our guide to hotel escort bookings in London explains how these bookings work from the client side, and incall vs outcall covers the differences in general.
Incall safety at your own place
For incall bookings, keep valuables, post and personal documents out of sight, and make sure the way out is clear. Keep your phone with you rather than in another room. Remember the brothel rules too: in England and Wales, premises where more than one person sells sex can count as a brothel, so working alongside a friend is legally complicated. The guide is escorting legal in the UK? explains the basics, as general information rather than legal advice.
Protect your privacy
Use a separate phone for work, never give out your home address unless it is your incall, keep work photos off your personal social media, and consider cropping or blurring your face. Do not tell clients your surname or where you study or work. There is more on discretion in our privacy and discretion guide.
What is National Ugly Mugs?
National Ugly Mugs (NUM) is a UK safety organisation for sex workers. Workers can report incidents and dangerous individuals, receive alerts about people others have reported, and get support after something has happened. It is worth signing up before you start, rather than waiting until something goes wrong.
How the agency’s concierge helps
Working with an agency does not replace your own judgement, but it does add support. At Indian Angels:
- The concierge takes the first call or message, so clients do not need your personal number.
- Booking details, including the hotel and room number, are confirmed before you leave.
- Calls and WhatsApp are answered 24/7, so you can check in, check out or ask for help at any hour.
- You choose your bookings, areas and hours, and you can turn down any client.
- Every concern you raise is acted on.
If you are considering agency work, our page on escort jobs in London explains how it works, or you can apply to join us privately. You can also look through our escorts’ profiles to see how verified ladies present themselves.
If something goes wrong
Call 999 if you are in danger. If you, or someone you know, is being forced, threatened or controlled, the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline is on 08000 121 700. After any bad experience, report it to NUM so others can be warned, and talk to someone you trust. It was not your fault.

Questions
Telling someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to finish, with an agreed plan if they do not hear from you. It means someone will notice quickly if anything goes wrong, and it works best alongside screening and payment at the start.
Before. Collect the agreed fee at the start of the booking, count it discreetly and put it away. At Indian Angels, clients pay the escort at the start, usually in cash.

An agency adds support: the first contact is handled for you, booking details are confirmed before you travel and, at Indian Angels, the concierge is available 24/7. Your own habits still matter just as much.
Hotels are generally reassuring because there are staff and other guests around, and the room number is confirmed in advance. Still share the details with your check-in contact, and do not go in if anything at the door feels wrong.
